Itinerary 1
8:30am - 9:00am:
You will be amazed with the traditional welcome and hospitality of the villagers once you reach Ballavpur Danga. Relax for a while and capture the beautiful moments.
9:00am - 10:00am: Proceed to the crafts workshop and meet the skilled craftsmen of Ballavpur. You can buy, appreciate and even learn the specific skills required to make various crafts such as woodcrafts, terracotta items, leather goods and seed ornaments.
10:00am - 1:00pm: Tour the entire village either on foot or on decorated cycle rickshaw/bullock cart. You will be escorted by trained guides who will narrate interesting historic events on the way. You can also visit individual homes of villagers, and learn more about their art and history. Remember to get a glimpse of the murals and beautiful paintings on the walls of their huts.
1:00pm - 2:00pm: For lunch you can enjoy the traditional delicacies of Ballavpur Danga. Both vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes can be relished. Several varieties of seasonal vegetable dishes are served by the tribal tourism groups as well.
2:00pm - 4:00pm: Set-off for a sightseeing extravaganza to: Sonajhuri Forest, Deer Park, Khowai, Amader Haat (Saturday & Sunday only) and Vishwa Bharati Campus.
5:00pm - 6:30pm: Participate in one of the most authentic tribal dances performed by the artists of Ballavpur Adivasi Kala Kendra tribal dance troupe. Dancers dance around an open fire with drums (madal and lagra). Birds, trees, plants all sway and dance on the tribal beats and the atmosphere is simply filled with joy. Artists perform in open air on a stage decorated with paintings of tribal art. You can enjoy the performance while having delicious pakoras (snacks) and tea or loosen up yourself and dance to the tune with the artists.
