Itinerary 2

Day 01

Start from Delhi early morning in an air-conditioned train. On reaching Jaipur, first check-in your hotel and relax for sometime. After that we will proceed to the City Palace. This palace was built between 1729 and 1732 by Swai Jai Singh II and later some embellishments were made by subsequent rulers. Among the various forts and palaces of Jaipur, City Palace stands out, because of its marvelous architecture. The premises consists of several buildings like Chandra Mahal, Mubarak Mahal, Mukut Mahal, Maharani's Palace, Shri Govind Dev Temple and the City Palace Museum. From City Palace we will go to Jantar Mantar and on the way we will see the Hawa Mahal. Jantar Mantar, is a collection of architectural astronomical instruments, built by Maharaja Jai Singh II of Jaipur in 1734. The observatory consists of fourteen major geometric devices for measuring time, predicting eclipses, tracking stars in their orbits, ascertaining the declinations of planets, and determining the celestial altitudes and related ephemerides. Spend your time here, knowing how people of yesteryears used to practice astronomy. Next we can have a quick lunch at the Laxmi Mishtan Bhandar, where you can taste the best Rajasthani food.

After lunch we will proceed directly to the Jaigarh Fort. Located around 15 kms away from the Jaipur city, the Jaigarh Fort is one of the most spectacular forts in India, with almost all its original facilities intact. While Jaigarh Fort is on top of the hill, Amber Fort is at the bottom. The forts are connected through well-guarded passages. Jaigarh Fort was a center of artillery production for the Rajputs and it is home to the world's largest cannon on wheels, the Jaivana.

Next on the list is the Nahargarh Fort which stands on the edge of the Aravalli Hills, overlooking the city of Jaipur. Along with Amber Fort it formed a strong defense ring for the city. During the Sepoy Revolt of 1857, Nahargarh served as a refuge for Europeans fleeing from the havoc created by mutineers in neighboring states. After Nahargarh, we will proceed to the Amer Fort, The ancient citadel of the ruling Kachhawa clan of Amber. Amber Fort is known for its unique artistic style, blending both Hindu and Muslim (Mughal) elements, and its ornate and magnificent walls. The fort borders the Maota Lake, and is one of the biggest tourist attractions in Rajasthan. Once you finish exploring the fort, you can enjoy the enthralling light & sound show at the fort, which provides you a glimpse of the Rajputana history. This brings an end to the first day of your Jaipur trip.
