Itinerary 2


Day 01: Kochi

Upon arrival our representative will greet you at Kochi Airport/ Railway Station and then transfer to the hotel. Check-in and relax for a while amidst the comforts of your room. Later, proceed for a half day city sightseeing tour of Kochi. Kochi has the best preserved history of colonial times and the ideal way to bring it alive is to take a walk down the memory lane. The major tourist attractions are Chinese Fishing Nets, St. Francis Church, Santa Cruz Basilica, Jewish Synagogue and Mattancherry/Dutch Palace.

Day 02: Kochi - Munnar (158 kms - 04 hrs)

After breakfast proceed to Munnar, the place where the unfolded green carpet is waiting for you. Munnar is remarkably beautiful, a haven of peace and tranquility - the idyllic tourist destination in God's Own Country. Munnar is the 'Gateway of Hills' in South India. On the way you will see the lovely waterfalls in Cheeyappara and colourful flowers in Blossom Garden. On reaching Munnar first check in at the hotel and relax for a while amidst the comforts of your room. For the rest of day enjoy the greenery and fresh air of Munnar.

Day 03: Munnar

After breakfast proceed for a morning sightseeing trip of Munnar. We will first visit the Eravikulam National Park where you can see the rare mountain goats locally called the Nilgiri Tahr. Next will be Mattupetty Dam where you can click some spectacular photos . The Shola Forest around Mattupetty is ideal for trekking and bird watching. After that we will move to Kundala, a picturesque town located at the confluence of three mountain streams namely Mudrapuzha, Nallathanni and Kundala. En route visit Echo Point, View Point and green carpet of Tea Gardens.

Day 04: Munnar - Kumarakom (200 kms - 05 hrs)

After breakfast proceed to Kumarakom. On reaching Kumarakom first check in at the hotel and relax for a while amidst the comforts of your room. Kumarakom is one of the few places in the world where the only means of transportation is boats. Kumarakom is blessed with the Vembanad Lake whose majestic canals, streams and distributaries along its banks weave an intricate and enchantingly beautiful web. The major attraction of Kumarakom is the Bird Sanctuary which lies at the edge of the grounds of an old estate where a profusion of all kinds of birds can be observed. Domestic birds such as cuckoo, wild duck, egrets, darters, herons, teal, water fowl as well as Siberian Storks which migrate to this area each year, are found in abundance.

Day 05: Houseboat

After breakfast proceed to the boat Jetty. Board the traditionally decorated houseboats and begin the enchanting backwater cruising. Backwaters is unique feature of Kerala and is found no where else in the world. A glide in a 'Kettuvallam' (houseboat) through the enchanting backwaters will surely rob your heart. You will be in a watery universe, so quiet and serene that you will even hear your own blood pumping in your head, difficult to describe, so you have to be here to experience it yourself. Sparkling greens, emerald backwaters, coir-laden houseboats and magical beauty heals your mind and body as you travel in surreal Kerala.

Day 06:Houseboat - Kovalam (176 kms - 05 hrs)

After breakfast proceed to the Kovalam beach. Kovalam is known as the 'Paradise of the South'. This dreamland is an evergreen, serene, pleasant and enticing beach destination. On reaching Kovalam first check in at the hotel and relax for a while amidst the comforts of your room. Just enjoy the sound of the gigantic sea waves and discover the point where the sea meets the sky. Kovalam is the place where one can see the golden sand at the day time and silver sand in the night. With high rock promontory and a calm bay of blue waters, this beach paradise creates a unique aquarelle on moonlight nights.

Day 07: Kovalam - Thiruvananthapuram (Trivandrum) - Kovalam

After breakfast proceed for sightseeing at Thiruvananthapuram. Thiruvananthapuram literally means Ananthapuri - The city of Ananthan (Thiru means Lord and Puram means City). Ananthan is the Sesha (serpent) on whom Padmanabhan or Vishnu reclines. The Temple of Anantha - Shri Padmanabha Swami Temple is a prominent religious place of the city. Among the other sightseeing places is Kuthiramalika Palace Museum. The name Kuthiramalika means 'Palace of Horses' derived from the frieze of 122 wooden horses on its outer walls. You can also visit the Veli Tourist Village, which has an excellent waterfront park with a wide range of aqua entertainment facilities like fishponds, wading pools and landscaped garden. In evening you can go to the Shangumugham Beach and watch the amazing sunset.

Day 08: Kovalam - Trivandrum (20 kms - 45 mins)

After breakfast pack your luggage with a promise to return once again to this part of the world.... Proceed to the airport to timely board your flight with sweet memories of your Keralian Vacations.
